How many e-mails do you send a day?

I have just looked in my Sent items folder. It appears that in March 2011 I stopped filing Sent e-mails. I can therefore easily count that I have sent 2,785 over 600 days. So that means I send on average 4.64 e-mails a day. These are just personal e-mails.

I then sampled 25 at random and found that about two-thirds related to voluntary work that I do. Only 2 of the 25 were what you might call social e-mails and if that is a representative sample it means that I send a social e-mail only about once every 3 days on average.

I send a few e-mails each week at work. Socially - maybe a couple a month.

I find that I only send two to six social emails in a week and that's being generous. It has fallen off quite a bit, I get a lot of junk that does not require any reply, silly chains and work related emails.
