Where is everyone?
Here's a recent thought about autism, etc.

The other day, I watched the recent movie, "Gifted."
The young, gifted girl is in first grade and working
on differential equations for her casual reading.

I was left a little uncomfortable when I realized that
no autism or asperger's was ever hinted at -- not for
the girl, her uncle, nor her grandmother.

- The aspie genius has become such a cliche that was
asking myself whether there are /any/ extreme prodigies
who are not aspie, like this movie assumed ... and, at
first, that seemed wrong. I had bought into the cliche.

On further thought -- The really extreme are so rare
that I expect that there is something different going on
with them, so the movie is probably right.

Where is everyone?
I still peek in occasionally. But there is rarely anything worth
responding to, and starting a new thread just to talk to myself doesn't
seem appealing either...
